Mahogany with aged homes

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

Many associate Mahogany with antique furniture, it is often the case as many aged pieces are crafted from Mahogany. This is why the range is better suited to aged properties such as Victorian houses, large rooms with high ceilings, older homes tend to have supporting dark wooden exposed beams which will enhance darker furniture. Mahogany furniture renders a warm and sophisticated look and feel to a room, especially in a living room equipped with a log or coal fireplace. Should your home consist of the above then you’re bound to find the La Roque range of furniture more desirable than others.

Practical space saving nest of tables

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Another alternative to coffee table furniture could be a nest of tables. These items of furniture are becoming more and more popular as homes and living space gets more expensive in the UK. With a nest of tables you can have three tables, one large, medium and a smaller table. When you need the space instead of surface, you can simply stow each one under another leaving only the large table claiming space in the room. Each individual table is practical and one soon finds that each has it’s own purpose. Of a recent survey we found that the larger of the three tables is predominantly used in the living room, handy for dining at the couch, a medium table comes into it’s own when you may be indulging in a little tea and biscuits and finally the smaller table passes for a lamp table, display table and also for many other general usage in the living or dining room.

To refine the decor of your home, you may be thinking of adding pieces of furniture where you find unused or unusable space within a room. For example between a wall and couch in your living/dining room there may be space for something small, such as a floor standing lamp or small table. At Furniturethemes we have a range of stylish and contemporary lamp tables to suit many styles of room. Their purpose is a place for your lamp but they deserve more credit, as many of our tables boast extra storage such as shelves and drawer configurations for items such as remote controls, telephones and some come with magazine racks. Essentially these tables give you extra lighting whilst looking great and all the while help in keeping a room organised.

Cut out clutter with sideboards

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Over time we never really notice how much content we accumulate within our homes. It’s only when we decide to have a ‘clear out’ day that we realise the true extent to how much we have in our houses. Some call it clutter, some call it property-in either case, we like to keep the things we like and even display the items we like even more. Sideboards are a multipurpose way of keeping these objects at bay all the while looking pretty in your designated room. If it may be your hallway, dining room or lounge-sideboards do more than what a table can offer. The configurations of sideboards are abundant as you have the choice of cupboards or drawers or both, and to top it off literally a fine surface in which you can create a display of items such as photo frames, lamps, candles etc.

Making a home feel individual

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Having beautiful furniture in your home makes you feel good about your home and it instantly makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. By having the right type of furniture in each room and each piece of furniture having a purpose, it will enable you to keep a clean and tidy room.

If you have just moved into a new property or you have been redecorating, new furniture is a real treat. Firstly, before you purchase new oak furniture or pine furniture for the specific room, assess what you are going to use the room for and how often you are going to be using it. For example, if it is your new living room, you might want a signature oak coffee table or a TV cabinet to tidy away your TV, DVD and VCR.

Once you have decided on the use of the room, then you can start looking into the different ranges of wooden furniture that is available. There are modern pieces of oak and pine furniture as well as more traditional pieces of wooden furniture. Having individual pieces of oak or pine furniture in your home will make your home stand out from the rest and make it feel individual.
